Get in touch today What could your donation do? £5,000 employs an Education Officer for a year who can train and mentor up to 30 community teachers. £7,500 gives 100 children the opportunity to go to school for a year, breaking the cycle of illiteracy for a whole community. £15,000 could give 200 girls the chance to attend school for a year, empowering them to pursue new opportunities. £50,000 could build a new school and cover all the school development costs for three years. £200,000 could support 440 children to complete their primary school education, opening pathways to higher education and enhanced lift opportunities. Meet Bopha Teacher, Cambodia Bopha grew up in a small, rural village in north-east Cambodia. Her community was extremely isolated, with no government primary schools nearby. Most of the adults and children in the village were illiterate and only spoke their own local dialect. In 2010, UWS partnered with Bopha’s community to develop a new school. Bopha began attending the school and was taught by teachers who spoke the same language as her. At the same time, she began to learn the national language for the first time. Bopha continued on to secondary school, staying in a UWS dormitory block during the week. She then went on to train as a teacher and now works in the UWS school in her village. Bopha is teaching the next generation of children from her village to read, write and count, and is inspiring them to pursue their dreams.
