To mark International Women's Day 2021 we #ChoosetoChallenge the stereotypical perception that leading entrepreneurs, activists, and philanthropists are male. Instead, we're celebrating pioneering women who are driving social change and innovation to give young girls access to education.

From businesswomen to young female student leaders, we came together to celebrate visionary women and the impact they are having on young girls in remote regions of Nepal, Cambodia, and Myanmar through education. We hosted an event where we heard from inspirational stories from incredible women including multi-award-winning Scottish-Pakistani TV & Radio presenter Zara Janjua. Our speakers included:

Susie Ma - CEO and Founder of Tropic Skincare, UWS Corporate Partner

Celia Hodson - Founder and CEO of Hey Girls, Buy one Give one Period Products

Dr Kay Khaing Win - UWS Country Director Myanmar

Rebecca Curley - UWS Inclusive Education Policy Manager

Puja Nepali - UWS Fellow

Anita Kutty - UWS Student Ambassador

This diverse group of women shared their personal stories of how they’re driving social change and empowering the next generation of girls. From businesswomen to young female student leaders, we celebrated visionary women and the impact they are having on young girls in remote regions of Nepal, Cambodia, and Myanmar through education.
