Happily ever smarter

Help children live

Happily ever Smarter

Happily Ever Smarter was a life-changing United World Schools campaign backed by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) under its UK Aid Match initiative.

Between 29th April 2021 and 29th July 2021, the UK government matched your donations to help children from marginalised communities across Asia to get a vital education and live Happily Ever Smarter. Your donations will help us educate children, train teachers, build new schools and more in hundreds of remote, marginalised communities across Asia.

Thanks to your incredible support, we raised £2,809,067 to help children live Happily Ever Smarter, including £1,296,677 from the UK government!

At United World Schools, we believe that education helps children live Happily Ever Smarter; unlocking their potential and breaking the cycle of poverty. We told the story of how education empowers children through sharing the story of 11-year-old Kanchi, which you can watch below.

The UK government backed our Happily Ever Smarter appeal, matching eligible donations made between 29th April - 29th July 2021, to help provide a life-changing education to thousands of children across Asia.

  • How will the donations be used?

For every eligible £1 you gave to United World Schools’ Happily Ever Smarter campaign, the UK government matched your donation by giving an additional £1. UK government funding will go to UWS’ programmes in the highlighted regions of Nepal, to help over 8,000 out of school children in some of the most remote areas go to primary school for the very first time. Donations from the British public will be spent across all UWS’ education programmes in Nepal, Cambodia and Myanmar. Read more
